Where to send submissions?
Please email submissions (and/or questions) to: littlelibrarymagazine@hotcoffeehamont.ca
Due Date
The due date for Issue #2, "Food in the City", is March 1st 2026.
Page Sizes/Dimensions
Pages are 8.5" height by 5.5" width (the size of a sheet of 8.5"x11" paper folded in half).
Each submitted page should be no larger than 8" x 5" to allow for 1/4" printer margins and ease of printing at home.
Submissions may be multiple pages.
What if I need help with page layout?
No problem! Just ask, and we can help with whatever's needed - including doing the layout for you, if you prefer!
(Currently we are using layout software called Scribus, which is a free, libre, and cross-platform desktop publishing application.)
File formats
Common file formats such as PDF or JPG are best. If you're unsure, please ask!
Black & white, or colour?
Submissions may be in colour, but not everyone has access to a colour printer, so submissions should also be suitable for printing in black & white.
Who can contribute?
Short answer: everyone!
Slightly longer answer: The Little Library Magazine is committed to being an inclusive project. Therefore we especially welcome and encourage the participation and perspectives of Hamiltonians who identify as Black, Indigenous, Persons of Colour, LGBTQ+, disabled, unhoused, or who belong to, and/or identify as a member of, marginalized communities.
Can kids contribute?
Yes - but contributions from kids under 13 must be made by a parent or guardian on their behalf, and must not contain any personally identifying information.
What kind of work can be submitted?
Anything related to the theme of the issue!
This could mean a:
- Short essay
- Personal anecdote/story
- Teaching readers a skill or process
- Comic strip
- Poem
- Drawing
- Puzzle/game/quiz
- Photo(s)
- Tips or guide to local places
- ... ???
What is not allowed?
- submissions may not promote intolerance, hatred, or bigotry.
- no AI-generated content is permitted.
- no advertising or business promotion.
- no disinformation.
